Meet our Instructors
Devon
“Hi, I’m Devon! My life’s passion is simply to help people feel good; -feel good physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I’ve dedicated my career in service to this pursuit with 10 certifications in physical movement, breath work, and mental health/life coaching. I have taught Pilates for the past 12 years and been blessed to travel around the world to teach and train in multiple countries and communities. The Roanoke area is my home town, I’m thrilled to be here again and to join the beautiful community here at Prayers and Pilates.
When I’m not teaching (or taking) classes I’m usually spending time in the red light sauna, with my family, or out on a local nature trail with my dogs catching every sunset that I can.”

Rory
“As a fitness enthusiast and professional trainer, I love to share my strong passion and expertise with many others to help people stay active and achieve a healthier lifestyle. I strongly believe God’s purpose for me was in the teaching field through many modalities. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from The University of Texas, but have been involved in the fitness industry for over 40 years. I recently retired from teaching elementary school after 30 years, and have completed many fitness certifications along the way. I started as a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor from the American Fitness and Aerobic Association, a Certified Biomechanics of Resistance Training from the Cooper Institute and a TRX Suspension Training Certification. I have also completed two 500-Hour Pilates Certifications and am thrilled to be bringing my love for Pilates to help people become stronger and flexible. I am also a Functional Medicine Nutritionist so I can integrate my nutrition knowledge into my Pilates instruction when it is needed or wanted by my clients. I believe God has a plan for all of us, and I am so thrilled part of his plan is for me to be with you at Prayers and Pilates. In my spare time, I love spending time with my grand daughter, Vivian, and her little sister, Lucy, who is due in August 2025. My husband, David, and I have been married for 41 years, and we enjoy traveling and going to the UT football games every fall.”

Erica, Owner
I fell in love with pilates 3 years ago when I attended my first class with a girlfriend. Before pilates I attended camp gladiator. While I found came gladiator to be a wonderful all over workout I generally left the workouts with knee pain due to the terrain we worked out on. After 6 months of attending pilates classes on the reformer, I realized I was sculpting muscles I forgot I had along with building a stronger core than ever before. It was at this time I realized I wanted to share the benefits of Pilates with family and friends and started the teacher training. 500 hours later , I received my comprehensive certification for mat, reformer, and Cadillac Pilates.
In order to find time to practice the workouts, I bought a reformer to workout with at home. Not the easiest task to do with 3 little boys (ages 3, 7, 11) running around. However what I found is that they loved Pilates just as much as I did. It was something that happened organically but it became our little sanctuary inside our home. More magical than young boys having fun working out, I found that the room turned into a place where we felt balanced and grateful together and we made it a room where we could drown out the world and pray and talk to God together. It really does something special to a parent to see their 8 year old lying on a reformer in the butterfly position closing their eyes and thanking God for his family. That is how our little 13 X 10 guest bedroom quickly garnered the name “Prayers and Pilates.” When we knew we wanted to share this experience with others, picking the name of our family business was the easiest thing we would do.
Our vision for our Pilates/sauna studio is to provide a welcoming space where anyone and everyone can escape from the troubles of the world and to find gratitude for all of God’s blessings. These blessings include being grateful for our bodies the way that God made them and strengthening them with the movements of Pilates. Additionally, I suffer from joint inflammation. After much research regarding the benefits of infrared heat I knew helping others detoxify and heal their bodies with our saunas was something I wanted to add as well.
Are you interested in applying to be a Pilates instructor with us? We are looking to hire more talented instructors to join our studio as we continue to grow!
